About SCAA
An inter-sectoral collaboration built on shared commitment to Saskatoon's safety and well-being.
SCAA's Mandate
The Safe Community Action Alliance operates with two complementary mandates — immediate response and long-term transformation.
Immediate Term Response
To deal with immediate term and emerging issues that impact community safety in a more integrated manner. This enables immediate actions and responses that are more cohesive, coordinated, and effective when an inter-sectoral approach is applied.
Long Term Systemic Change
To deal with long-term and systemic issues that require innovative approaches not currently in place. This provides the forum where leadership from community, government, and business can convene to develop transformative strategies.
The Participant Groups
The SCAA brings together representatives from community-based organizations, the business community, and government agencies.
Built on Proven Initiatives
The SCAA builds on successes and lessons from earlier Saskatoon initiatives in community safety.
Safe Streets Commission
Lessons from Saskatoon's earlier Safe Streets Commission inform SCAA's approach to coordinating responses to street-level safety challenges.
Saskatoon Action Accord
The SCAA builds directly on the work and relationships established through the Saskatoon Action Accord, Saskatoon's Regional Inter-sectoral Committee.
Strategic Direction
The SCAA operates within Saskatoon City Council's strategic plan, which includes specific direction for moving towards safety and wellbeing for all.
